I have news on the hotel. As I said in a previous post the name of the hotel is Boqueron Beach Hotel, and you can view it online at http://www.westernbayhotels.com/
It is not very fancy, but it is as nice as it gets in this small sleepy beach town. I have confirmed that there is a block of rooms reserved for our wedding guests, at a group rate. You will have to call the hotel by phone, reserve with your credit card and tell them you are coming for the wedding of Lisa Ayala and Michael Davis. There are two types a room. You can either get a room with one king size bed for $86.11 or a room with two queen size beds for $107.91. This rate includes taxes and breakfast, which is basically coffee juices and some bread/pastries. Nothing fancy. The rooms are not huge, and I know Ann (Michael's mom) prefered the room with the double beds just so she could have more room. The hotel is not on the water, so don't expect a waterfront room. If you need a bigger breakfast, we will let you know where to go in the area. The number to call is 787-851-7110, and yes it is a domestic call for most companies.
Now, here's the big one. I just found out they are having a gay pride parade that same weekend in Boqueron. They are expecting the hotels to get pretty full, so you must reserve soon. The Pride festivities will be close enough to walk to, but not so close that you can see it from your hotel window. I realize to some people this might be uncomfortable, and a big mess, but I think it's cool and I am looking forward to hanging out in the plaza a little bit on Friday night with all the gays. I think this is the third or fourth pride parade they do in Boqueron, so don't expect New York or Atlanta proportions. In any case, my point here is to say please call the hotel sooner rather than later.
I will send out other options of where to stay in another post. But as I have said before, there are no Hiltons, or Best Westerns in this town, and there are no large waterfront hotels either, so any other options available may be more expensive and not much nicer.
There is less than 4 months to go and the tickets are still under $300!
Thanks!
Lisa & Michael
