Dress Code

What not to wear

In the last two weeks the question I get asked the most is: "Do you have a dress yet?". The answer is no, I don't. I know what I don't want to wear, but I have not actually tried anything on. I am writing a thesis, remember? However, there are a few decisions that have been made about the dress code and I thought it was time to share that with all of you.

Michael will not be wearing a suit or a tux. We want this to be a bit on the casual side and we are keeping in mind that the ceremony will be outside, on the Caribbean coast in June. Michael will be wearing a guayabera, with more than likely linen pants, and possibly a hat. We will wait until we go shopping before the details are determined, so this is subject to change. For those of you who do not know a guayabera is a traditional Caribbean men's dress shirt, although looking for images of one I found out that they are worn in Mexico and the Philippines as well, which leads me to think it is Spanish in origin. Anyway, it is something like this:

As far as I am concerned, I will not be wearing a traditional wedding dress. NO veil, no trains, no puffiness. I do not have a dress yet but it will more than likely be something like one of these:

or

Just know that we do not expect to see any women in gowns, or men in suits. We of course do not expect people in jeans and shorts either, but this is not a formal affair. We want you all to be beautiful and comfortable and happy.

In other news Page and Rob have purchased their tickets too! For those of you keeping count that is six confirmed friends of mine who are putting their money where their mouths are. SO far I think they have all purchased with frequent flier miles and initial prices were always under $300. They are also all traveling at different times. So get with it!
